Bridges / Buildings Project Engineer / Designer

Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists for an Entry Level or experienced Bridges / Buildings Project Engineer to join Exeltech, a leading, multi-discipline engineering consulting firm, in our Lacey or Seattle, WA or Portland, OR office.  

We are looking for a passionate and motivated engineer with an interest in structural bridge and/or buildings engineering.

  • Prepare analysis, design and technical reports for a variety of projects, which may include: bridges, retaining walls, waterfront structures, transit, and fish passage structures.
  • Perform analysis and design for structural aspects of projects, and perform quality control of calculations and plan sheets. 
  • Coordinate structural designs with other disciplines such as civil, traffic, geotechnical and survey.
  • Use SAP 2000 and PGSuper software among others.
  • Perform the routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of engineering principles
  • Perform field activities such as observation of construction activities
  • As applicable, serve as a technical lead to review, assign work and/or check design calculations and quantities by junior engineers

Qualifications

Bridges / Buildings Designer

  • BSCE required, MSCE in structural engineering preferred
  • Internship or other related work experience
  • EIT license preferred
  • Experience with SAP 2000, PGSuper and other related software
  • Self-starter with a desire to work and learn with a great group of engineers and ability to work in an environment that can occasionally be fast paced

Bridges / Buildings Engineer

  • BSCE required, MSCE in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years bridge/buildings structural design experience required.
  • PE required. SE preferred
  • Experience with WSDOT bridge design manual (BDM), SDOT and ODOT standards
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Experience in seismic design and analysis of bridges and/or buildings
  • Experience in preparing Plans and writing specifications using WSDOT Standards preferred
  • Self-starter with a desire to work and learn with a great group of engineers and ability to work in an environment that can occasionally be fast paced
