Seabeck Holly Road at Anderson Creek Bridge Replacement

Kitsap County, Seabeck, Washington

Exeltech was the prime consultant providing project management, civil and structural engineering design, and environmental permitting services to replace this bridge over Anderson Creek where it drains into Hood Canal. The existing bridge was a constriction point, inhibiting tidal exchange and estuary function. Exeltech designed a longer bridge to restore natural stream and estuary hydraulics, while maintaining the existing roadway alignment and profile as much as possible to reduce overall cost to Kitsap County. A key challenge included the bridge’s proximity to the intersection of Old Holly Hill Road. This challenge was overcome by maximizing the length of the new bridge while minimizing impacts to the intersection that could have required costly modifications to roadway geometry, stormwater drainage and permanent impacts to adjacent wetlands.
