I-5 Chamber Way Overpass Emergency Repair and Replacement

Washington State Department of Transportation, Chehalis, Washington

Exeltech served as design manager for this design-build project to replace the damaged overpass at the Chamber Way interchange on I-5. The project required a new bridge to span the existing and planned future widened configuration of I-5. The bridge type selected is forward compatible to allow widening of Chamber Way to six lanes and accommodates bicycle and pedestrian access across I-5. The project design required the removal of a temporary steel truss span and the existing bridge (Bridge No. 8 5/227), site grading, paving, sidewalk, storm drainage, water quality, traffic signal, signing, illumination, and landscaping. This project reconstructed the Chamber Way overpass and road approaches from northbound ramp termini to southbound ramp termini.
