SR 530 / Trafton Creek and Schoolyard Creek Fish Passage

Washington State Department of Transportation
Snohomish County, Washington

Exeltech provided wetland delineation, landscape architectural design services, and permit plans preparation for development of roadside restoration and riparian/stream mitigation plans for this project that removed two fish barriers on Trafton Creek and Schoolyard Creek and reconstructed the sites with fish-passable structures passing under SR 530 between Arlington and Darrington. Exeltech also provided JARPA through the US Army Corps of Engineers, environmental compliance inspection, water quality monitoring, and permit compliance tracking. Exeltech worked with the project engineer to specify agency-approved construction techniques for design of the buffer and create habitat improvements along the creek. Improving this culvert opened about 2.8 miles of additional habitat for Coho salmon, steelhead, and resident bull and sea-run cutthroat trout.
