I-405 Widening and Express Toll Lanes

Washington State Department of Transportation, Renton to Bellevue, Washington

Exeltech is providing structural engineering and landscape design services for this major design-build project which adds new capacity to create a two-lane express toll lane system between SR 167 in Renton and Northeast 6th Street in Bellevue. This project will connect a 40-mile system of express toll lanes that improves speeds and trip reliability for all travelers and supports the new I-405 Bus Rapid Transit system included in the Sound Transit 3 plan.

Exeltech’s structural engineering services included preliminary/final design, analysis, and preparation of final construction documents for approximately 106 sign structures. This high-profile project involves replacing and adding new sign structures and poles, Closed Circuit Television camera structures, toll gantries, overhead lighting, and foundations, providing a significant modernization of the signage and wayfinding. The design-build project involves intense design coordination with civil, traffic, and systems designers and coordination with the Contractor.

Landscape design services for this project included design and preparation of construction plans for a 2.48-mile section of the south Eastside Rail Corridor.
